The Jefferson Hy-Vee store and Home State Bank are adding some extra incentives to fundraising efforts for a new Greene County animal shelter when RAGBRAI® passes through the county July 23.
Hy-Vee is providing water and bananas that will be traded for free will donations to the project. Home State Bank will match all donations made that day up to $25,000.
Don Orris, who is leading the fundraising effort, said he is ecstatic about those company’s involvement. He encourages everyone who is planning to donate to the project to do so that day to garner the Home State Bank match dollars.
The fundraising committee and People for Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) volunteers will be in Scranton July 23 from 8 am to 4 pm, and in Jefferson next to Twiins Shoppe on W. Lincoln Way from 5 until late evening. They’ll have their “Cat in the Hat” photo opportunity for extra fun for people of all ages.
Those who plan to write checks are reminded they should be payable to City of Jefferson with “animal shelter” on the memo line.
The fundraising committee thanked Hy-Vee and Home State Bank for their continued support of community-building projects.
